Caroline Rae

Caroline holds a Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Washington, a Bachelor of Science in Speech and Hearing Sciences from the University of Washington, and a Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics from the University of California, San Diego. Caroline is also credentialed as a Board Certified Specialist in Child Language with the American Board of Child Language and Language Disorders.

During her graduate program, Caroline completed an internship at Seattle Children’s Hospital and Autism Center. Caroline began her formal career as a Speech-Language Pathologist in public schools in Washington State and then in South Carolina. She has provided speech and language services for preschool, elementary, middle, and high school students. The transition to the clinical setting of Sweet Talkers has provided her with an opportunity to further expand her professional career and experiences, and to provide services with greater engagement of family members and caregivers.

Caroline loves inspiring children and their families throughout all stages of speech and language development. She is skilled in providing specialized support to her clients so they experience lasting success in areas such as articulation and phonology, stuttering, voice, receptive and expressive language, social communication and pragmatic language, augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), and executive functioning. She is educated in best practices for a variety of medical or developmental conditions, such as Down syndrome, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and traumatic brain injury. She provides services for early intervention (birth through 3 years-old), preschool- and school-aged children, teenagers, and young adults, all from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds. Caroline appreciates the value of literacy and its impact on language development and frequently incorporates pre-literacy, phonology, and reading and writing support into her therapy sessions. Caroline is certified to administer the Screening Tool for Autism in Toddlers (STAT) and has completed continuing education in Auditory-Verbal Therapy to support children with hearing loss.

Caroline is devoted to a good cup of coffee at the start of each morning, and a snuggle with her recently-adopted rescue pup at the end of the day!
